Ocean Pier Report

Surf City Pier

Tons of Blues at sunrise and sunset on Gotcha Plugs and Diamond Jigs with a handful of Spanish mixed in. A few Mullet at night on shrimp.

Sea View Pier

Tons of Blues on Gotcha plugs and Diamond jigs with a few Spanish mixed in. A few Flounder and Sea Mullet.

Jolly Roger Pier

Tons of Blues on Gotcha plugs and Diamond jigs with a few Spanish mixed in. A few Flounder and Sea Mullet.

Conclusion

All the Blues you want and a few Spanish.

Offshore Report 20 Miles – 200 Fathoms

Not alot of reports this week but a few Wahoo in the stream and some Yellowfin.

NearShore Report

The Bonita are still there. 2-3 Miles out of New River inlet. We caught them on Don’s Jigs and diamond jigs. There are some nice Black Sea Bass below them (we caught those on jigs too) as well.

Reds still chewing inside. Bonita off the beach and Lots of Specks starting to show up inside. The new Rapala baits are killing them.

Jolly Roger had a great mullet bite on fishbites and Shrimp last night. Great Bluefish bite on SeaView and Surf City this morning (gotcha Plugs). Bonita still out there this morning (Dons Jigs and Diamond Jigs). Had 1 report of a guy catching 6 Wahoo yesterday (1st hand). Just a few Sea Mullets and Reds off the beach. jrmullets

Bonita is the hot thing this week. 2-4 miles out of New River inlet. Don’s Jigs and Diamond jigs are the thing. If you want to troll take some crystal minnows. No real reports from offshore. Some Mullet, Black Drum and a few Blues on the pier. The reds are still chewing inside. 2withreds

Pier Report

Surf City Pier

Good catches of Sea Mullets at night and a few during the day. A few small blues showing up.

Some Blues on plugs and Mullet at night.

Conclusion

Good catches of Mullet at night.

Offshore Report 20 Miles – 200 Fathoms

Not too many Reports came in this weekend. There have been some Wahoo at the steeples. If you are not jigging you are not catching. People are finding out that jigging is saving trips in a big way. Wahoo, Yellowfin and Cobia are all being caught on jigs.

The Bonita have not really made a showing this week. Some Blues on the nearshore reefs as well as a few Gray Trout. But them Bonita need to be showing up please.

Still tons of reds to be had. Phil has been slying them this week. Even caught a red topwater. Some specks are starting to show up everywhere. The inshore fishing is on fire.

Pier Report

Surf City Pier

Good catches of Sea Mullets at night and a few during the day. 1st nice Black Drum of the year caught 4 lbs.

Mullets at Night and 1 nice Spot

Jolly Roger Pier

1 Black Drum (6lbs) and some decent catches of Mullet at night.

Good catches of Mullet at night and a few Black Drum

The stream is full of Wahoo.

This one was caught by John Scott of Wilmington. He is 15 years old and it was caught at 63 miles on a Ballyhoo on a red & black skirt.

The Bonita have not really made a showing this week so far. The wind has been howling so not many people have been outside looking them.

A few Gray Trout and Tautogs ahve shown up.

picked up my crew of three this afternoon at courthousebay marina and headed up the river in a stiff 20plus wind running with it on the way up was going to be ruff on the way back but the new clearwater 21ft super v rode like a champ 1st couple of stops were pretty dead but the next one was on with steady 16 to 18 in reds so we went looking up the creek out of the wind no trout but we got flounder so back out to the river for more reds but this school was steady 24-25 in fish with a 17in trout mixed in 3 triple hookups and a slam kept three reds and one trout out of 25 to 30 fish baits were the new yozuri rubber bait , broken back rapala, broken glass mr17 and of course 4in gulp pogy good day even with this darn wind lol but the guys had a ball

Decent Sea Mullet bite on the piers along with some Puffers and a few Blues. Reds still eating it up inside and on the shoals. No Bonita this morning.

Bonita @ 3 Miles. Wahoo and Cobia at 60+ Reds still in the creeks with some specks starting to bite.
